Harper Lee
Harper Lee was born in the 1920’s, and was one of 4 children. She lived in Alabama and grew up with a mentally challenged mother and a constantly busy father, who ironically was a lawyer, like one of the main characters in To Kill A Mockingbird . Speaking of that, To Kill A Mockingbird was her first and only book. She was only able to write this book because of her good friend who happened to have some extra money to give to Harper, allowing her to quit her job and focus on writing. For decades after releaseing her incredibly popular book, she ask her solitude. Rarely coming out of her house in Monroeville Alambama. Much like her mother, she keeps very much to her self and ask for privacy as much as possible.

Wow!That is so interesting! I did not know that Harper Lee did not like to leave her house, perhaps this is why she was so fond of writing. Since it is an activity that one can do alone. Did you know that her father was a newspaper editor? This could of also inspired her to write!
ReplyDeleteI did not know that Harper Lee was able to write her book due to the fact that someone gave her a years worth of money. She was fortunate to have that because without it, she might have never written the book. And why is Harper Lee hiding in solitude? I find it strange that she wrote a Pulitzer Prize winning novel, but doesn't even try to achieve anything else.
ReplyDeleteThe reason that the person in the story is her father because she made the story somewhat around her father. I think she is a weird person because she wants to be in her house all the time and I think she should be more open. I never thought about her being like her mother but after you making that comment, I do see those connections between her and her mother.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Atticus Finch is based on her father. The connection of their lawyer profession makes t seem likely. If this is so, Scout may be based on Lee herself. This would be easy to understand because it is easiest for the author to relate to her narrator. I am sure many aspects of this story are based on Lee's experience because it is about the southern way of life.
ReplyDeleteWow that’s really funny because her entire life is some part of the book. I say this because in To Kill a Mocking Bird Jean Finch the main character does not have a mother. Harper does not have a mother she can really relate to either. And now she does not come out of her house just like Boo Radley never comes out of his house in the book.
